THE CORPORATION OF THE MUNICIPALITY OF MACHIN

BY-LAW NUMBER 15-2002

                        BEING a By-law to rescind By-law No. 914A-91

BEING a By-Law to accept “Waste” in the Municipal Waste disposal sites.

                        WHEREAS pursuant to Section 209A S.S. 2, of the Municipal Act, R.S.O. 1980, by-laws may be passed to assume any or all of waste management powers.

                        AND WHEREAS the Council of the Municipality of Machin has deemed it appropriate to accept waste as defined under Section 209A S. S. (1) of the Municipal Act R.S.O. 1980.

                        NOW THEREFORE the Council of the Municipality of Machin ENACTS AS FOLLOWS:

1.         Definitions:     

                        In this by-law:

            (a)       “Waste” means ashes, garbage, refuse, domestic waste, industrial solid waste or municipal refuse and such other wastes as may be designated by by-law passed by the Council.

            (b)       “Waste Management Power” means any power conferred by any general or special Act on local municipalities or local boards thereof related to the collection, removal, disposal, treatment, storage, processing, transfer, reduction, reuse, recovery or recycling of waste.

            (c)       “Unincorporated Areas” means Mutrie Township, East Aubrey Township, Wabigoon Township, Redvers Township, Colenso Township, Smellie Township, East end of Canyon Lake in the Unorganized area North of Smellie Township, Docker Township, Buller Townhsip and Eton Township.

            (d)       “Municipal” means Langton Township, Sanford Township, West Aubrey Township and Temple Township.

This by-law shall come into force and take effect upon the final reading hereof.
