ACCESSIBILITY PLAN UPDATE 2004
Ontarians With Disabilities Act, 2001
No new evaluation of municipal buildings was done as no work or renovations were completed
during this year. Therefore information gathered by summer students in 2003 was used.
WORK ACCOMPLISHED THROUGHOUT 2004
- •Information article printed in November Machin Messenger - as attached
- •Handicap parking spaces have been designated and signs have been erected at the
Woodland Arena, Administration Office and Machin Clinic.
- •Exit Maps have been drawn up and are posted in the Administration Office for all various
exits on all floors.
- •On-going construction at the Water Plant and Woodland Arena are incorporating features
into their development. Woodland Arena renovations Phase 2 are almost completed.
- •Playground equipment at our green spaces have been inspected by a contractor through
the Northwestern Health Unit. A detailed report should be forthcoming in early
December. Equipment from the closed Eagle River School might be transferred to the
Eagle River Park.
- •Trees and brush have been cleaned out at all Municipal Green spaces. The Pine Tree
Pathways committee has done extensive work to their trail system and trail head. Bridges
and board walks have been added to the trail network. Gravel has been distributed
throughout portions of the trail. A picnic area with several picnic tables has been cleared
for use by all. A granite bench has been installed.
- •Issue update onto Municipal web-site.
WORK PLANNED FOR UPCOMING YEAR
- •A by-law needs to be define Handicap parking -some signs already erected.
- •Set up handicap parking signs at all green spaces. More detailed brushing and clearing is
required.
- •Barrier-free washroom at the clearing at the top of the hill at Pine tree pathways trail head.
To be set up by beginning of next summer.

WORK PLANNED FOR UPCOMING YEAR Continued:
- •Roofed Picnic shelter has been planned for same site. Three granite benches will be
installed at lookouts throughout the trail.
- •Exit maps for the Arena, Clinic, Eagle River Rec. Centre are required.
- •New proper signage required at municipal buildings and green spaces.
- •Give Council and Department heads the Barrier Identification checklist in order to
incorporate renovations/changes into next year budget.
- •Hold Committee meetings.
- •On-going information messages in Machin Messenger newsletter and onto web-site.
